Nicolas Cage has always been anything but conventional and his latest relationship certainly follows suit, as the actor has reportedly filed for annulment after just four days of marriage.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Cage has filed for an annulment from his new wife, makeup artist Erika Koike, just four days after they tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas, putting the union towards the top of the list when it comes to the shortest celebrity marriages. Congratulations, Cage! You just made Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries's 72-day marriage look like a union for the ages!
Cage and his alleged soon-to-be ex-wife were first spotted on vacation together in April 2018, according to People. They applied for a wedding license last Saturday-the same day as the ceremony. He has reportedly also requested a divorce if an annulment-which legally makes the marriage invalid-is not possible.
This was Cage's fourth marriage. He was married to actress Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001; Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, from 2002 to 2004; and a former waitress named Alice Kim from 2004 to 2016. Kim and Cage have a son named Kal-El, who was born in 2005.
The brevity of the Cage/Koike wedding-to-annulment cycle is reminiscent of Britney Spears's short-lived marriage to Jason Alexander in 2004. They also married in Las Vegas-she wore ripped jeans and he donned a baseball cap. Some 55 hours later, the singer had it annulled. Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman also shared a famously short union, splitting just nine days after their wedding. Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney, along with Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson, had marriages that lasted less than a year, clocking in at 225 days and 122 days, respectively. What an interesting club to be a part of.
Cage has not commented on the relationship, marriage, or annulment.
