Sometimes you have to wonder about the brides who post in Reddit's "Am I the A**hole" section. Sure, some raise points that leave commenters divided, but mostly they just seem a glutton for punishment in being called out for their bad behavior.
Take this recent post about a pregnant bridesmaid, for example. The bride says she got married a month and half ago after planning her wedding for more than three (!) years. Over the course of those years, her bridesmaid, whom she calls "Anna," got pregnant and married the man she had been dating when the bride got engaged.
"She Anna was hugely pregnant, and didn't refrain from showing it off," the bride writes. "We're both fairly young (25) and in my husband's culture, getting pregnant before late 20s/30s, married or not, is basically a teenage pregnancy and drew ATTENTION. She also has a vibrant personality and has a way of eclipsing everyone around her. Her husband is also very tall and incredibly attractive, which drew a lot of attention." Okay, so this woman-whose pregnancy was impossible to hide, not that she should have to-had fun at a reception? Seems like pretty standard behavior.
But it apparently got worse for the bride. "All anyone spoke about or of was Anna's pregnancy and her attractive husband," she continued. "Even in the line, people were asking about that "electric woman" and of her pregnancy/marriage/life. When they got up to dance, all eyes were on them. Anna's friend ended up hooking up with my brother, outing him as gay and causing a huge scandal."
"I ended up leaving midway through the reception in tears, and never attended the next morning's brunch. Anna and her entourage left early the next morning and also didn't attend," the bride continued. "I can't even look at the pictures without crying and desperately want a do over."
Wow, that's a lot-and the bride continues to claim, "I'm not a bridezilla, but this was beyond the pale… I honestly feel like Anna owes me a wedding and did all of this as revenge for me offending her years ago. Am I wrong?"
That's a hard yes, according to most of the Reddit commenters. "If anything it was probably just a few people asking about the baby and OP original poster greatly exaggerated because she's jealous af," one wrote.
"I also can't believe people like OP original poster exists. It's not Anna's fault she decided to live her life. Your planning spanned three years without any consideration OR expectation of possible changes within the people involved," wrote another. "HELLO? Time doesn't stand still just for you. That alone shows how self-centered you are. You are 100% a bridezilla."
But, hey, at least Anna the bridesmaid with the hot husband had a good time!
