Sunshine, incredible beaches, delectable food, and a rich cultural heritage await you in Cancun, Mexico. This honeymoon hotspot has tons to offer honeymooners looking for a coastal retreat from wedding stress. Combining a traditional downtown neighborhood with tons of gorgeous resorts along the 14-mile beachfront strip known as the "Zona Hotelera" or Hotel Zone, there's no shortage of excursions, cuisine, or nightlife to enjoy as you embark on your honeymoon.

Getting to Cancun is a breeze - most major cities across the U.S. offer direct flights to Cancun International Airport, and your hotel can help to coordinate ground transportation from the airport to the property. At this point all you have to do is kick back and let the honeymoon begin!

Morning: Welcome to your first full day paradise! It's been a busy lead-up, so take some time to relax - if you're at an all-inclusive resort, like the Riu Hotel Cancun, you can even order breakfast in bed! One of the great advantages of a Cancun mini-moon is the easy pace. There's no reason to rush out of bed (although depending on where you're staying, you may want to run down to the pool or beach and strategically place some towels on some good seats!), so call in a breakfast order and ease into the day.

Daytime: Again, it's relaxation time! Grab a cocktail (or a few) by the pool or beach, get some sun, catch up on some reading. You may be a bit tired from traveling the day prior, so don't feel guilty if you drift off into a midday slumber (just be mindful of the sun). Your resort will likely have all sorts of activities and games going on if that's your sort of thing. If not, take advantage of the time you and your spouse finally have to relax and enjoy each other's company.

Evening: It's the first night of your honeymoon, make it a special one. The Ritz-Carlton, not unsurprisingly, has one of Cancun's top dinner experiences, Casitas. Live soft music, on-the-beach dining in a private cabana, great steak and seafood - what more could you want? After dinner, get a solid night's sleep - you probably need it!

Day 2

Morning: After some coffee and a quick breakfast, kick the day off with a morning walk on the beach. Cancun has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They're wonderful to sit and relax on, for sure, but they're also perfect for a romantic stroll. Don't forget to bring your camera (or smart phone) to capture the magic in photos!

Daytime: The area in and around Cancun has a number of amazing Mayan ruin sites. If you're up for some adventure and history, take advantage of the numerous tour operators that organize trips to area sites including Tulum, Xel-Ha, and Chichen Itza. Most tours provide round-trip transportation departing directly from your hotel. And for the more adventurous honeymooners, there are ample opportunities for zip lining, rappelling, and canoeing, especially in Coba Maya.

Evening: Having returned from your Mayan excursion, you're probably pretty tired. Depending on the time of year, you may be back in time to take in the beautiful sunset. Sometimes there's no better time to lay on the beach than the waning hours of the day. When you're ready for dinner, why not make it a fully Mayan day and grab your evening meal at Hacienda Sisal? Pass on the fajitas and tacos and instead try some authentic Mayan cuisine, such as salmon mole or tomahawk pork.

Day 3

Morning: You've earned a day of pampering. Enjoy a couples' massage in your hotel's spa. Be sure to ask if they offer beachside cabanas - you can get a massage in a dimly-lit treatment room with soothing music anywhere!

Afternoon: For a change of scenery, take a short trip from your hotel to the beach at Playa Tortugas. It's free and is known to have some of the most calm, beautiful surf in the area. There are ample restaurants and shopping facing the beach and on surrounding blocks; alternatively, pick up some lunch items for your own beachside picnic.

Evening: It's your last night, so why not go out in style? Start your night off right with dinner at one of Cancun's top establishments. If you're feeling up for a trip into Downtown, grab a cab and head straight for Marakame. If seating is available, opt to enjoy a wide-range of fare outside on their patio. Also located downtown is Peter's Restaurante - a family establishment with great shrimp and seafood, pasta, and excellent wine. Want to stay near the Hotel Zone but try something different? The Thai Lounge is a great option. Either way, you can't go wrong for your last meal in Cancun before you head back home as rejuvenated husband and wife!
